Before The Window Closes

I believe the moral and political salvation of these United States of America lies with neither the Democrats nor Republicans, but with the few courageous men and women who will act from their conscience rather than political advancement, party affiliation, power, or greed.

Our government under the guise of fighting terrorism has condoned assassinations, torture and has opted to justify pre-emptive war as morally acceptable in order to protect our safety and freedom; a freedom now suffering under a cloak of real and manipulated fear.  Where there was once respect and admiration for this great nation there now exists cynicism and hatred.  Within these parameters men driven by blind hatred now seek revenge by sending forth fanatics to murder and maim innocents.  Is it not written that”…they who live by the sword shall perish by the sword…”  Has violence ever been the choice of wise men when the possibility of dialogue was feasible?

This nation has committed deeds that have been both notable and reprehensible.  Under the banner of duty and patriotism the few have led the multitude to worship at the altar of obedience and silence, while the poor, helpless and ignorant are sacrificed to quench the insatiable lust of the power brokers for more power and monetary gain.

Today there is still an open window which may afford redemption from our bloody past and clouded future.  Today is a time to love these United States of America – not for what it was or is – but for what it may one day become.  It is not an “ism” that we should fear, but a lack of understanding.

Let us begin, while there is yet an open window of time to save this planet – not as Democrats, Republicans and Independents, but as human beings who happen to be members of the human race and Americans.

    Dear Writer,

Your Title, “Before The Window Closes”

Indicates to me a perception of limited time, and as you know time is an infinite thing that has been and will continue to be measured forever and ever.

Regarding your comments and dialog pertaining to the Great USA, I would agree there have been some grave mistakes made in our diplomatic relations around the world and domestic policy as well.

However, these are some very challenging and unpredictable times we are living in. Our terroristic threats have never been as challenging on our own soil as they are today. This fact alone has altered our lives in ways I never thought possible. There needs to be a greater focus on domstic policy regarding increasing net discresionary funds which has a direct relationship with employment. 13 Billion US dollars are spent each month on foriegn anti terroristic protection, not just for the USA but for the world.

At a certain point we have to say we are going to take care of our own 1st. However, the worlds view is that we have plenty and we can afford to continually support our international neigbors.

Well enough is enough. I believe we get as many of our boys home as we can safely and securely as possible, then proceed to create a bi partisan domestic agenda that will put our American families back to work. So we can be supportive of others.

Shouldn’t ‘the middle class’ be added to the 3rd from the last paragraph? The middle class is also a victim of the power greedy and is fast disappearing. The size of the poor and the upper classes have increased dramatically and will continue to do so as the middle class, the backbone of America, erodes.
